Some of you who know me are aware that we sponsored a girl from Haiti while there on our mission trip this past summer.  Her name is Smeralda.  She is a beautiful child of God.  :)  Some of the missionaries from our group will be returning to Haiti in April and as I was preparing a care package to go back to Smeralda I had an idea.    Smeralda is 7 years old, and is in primary school.

An idea of Smeralda meeting children her own age in America.  How to do that?  I ask Ms. Murphy’s 1st and 2nd grade class to send her drawings and letters from their class.  I went to the school and shared photos from our trip of Smeralda, her family, her ‘neighborhood’, homes and her school that we helped work on.  They were FULL of questions for me!

Ms. Murphy sent the pictures home for me yesterday and some photos of the class working on their art.  How exciting for Smeralda to see these drawings made just for her.  She may not speak or read English well yet, but I think the art of sunshine, flowers and friendships is universal.  :)

Robby Zulu is 9 years old, his favorite color is black, he ♥’s elephants and wants to grow up to be a male nurse someday.  I hope I can help make Robby’s dreams a reality.
